Biography

Designed in May 68, Jean-François Schmid is born 9 months later in late January 1969 in Geneva.

He learned the mechanic trade, then immediately did evening studies as a mechanical technician.

A non-conformist, he changed course and acquired the profession of Couturier at the School of Decorative Arts in Geneva (EAD).

Subsequently, he became a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design, fashion section, following the course at the Haute École d’Arts Appliqués (HEAA), always in Geneva. During the presentation of his Diploma he obtained the congratulations of the Jury and won the Cantonal Decoration Fund prize..

On the occasion of the world ski championships in St-Anton in Austria in 2001, he designs a line of clothing for a troupe of dancers and acrobats. This work is presented on stage during the opening show of this sporting event.

Pendant plusieurs années Jean-François dessine et conçoit des costumes, sets as well as various mechanical and pyrotechnic special effects for cinema.

Of 2005 à 2018 he puts his artistic life on hold in order to build two children.

From 2018 he teaches manual work and begins university teaching training.

From 2019 he returns to drawing and sculpture
